Summary of the HIA
Proposed Policy or Project
Currently, a health impact assessment has not been conducted on this plan. This Plan will become policy to provide long-term guidance to ensure that decision-makers and public agencies carry out future development with the community's concerns and needs in mind. This Draft Environmental Impact Report is currently available for public comments until June 13th, 2011.
Background and Policy Context
In 2003, a community plan for Glen Park was developed, but due to limited funding the project was postponed. However in 2009, the San Francisco Planning Department re-initiated the community planning process to update the draft plan. The Glen Park 2010 Community Plan includes three elements: Land use and urban design, transportation and open space. Each section not only looks at policies that increase business vitality and neighborhood identity, but also addresses improvements in transportation conditions and promoting pedestrian safety. In response to the Glen Park Community Plan, a draft environment impact review was conducted to inform the community and decision-makers of potential significant environmental impacts of the Plan and identifies ways to minimize these effects and evaluates feasible alternatives to avoid or reduce impacts.
